About The Opportunity:
In this dynamic role, you will be responsible for preparing detailed design and as-built plans and for providing technical fieldwork in support of Civic Operations. You will gain valuable experience in project management by taking on small scale projects, as assigned. You will have the opportunity to apply your technical expertise to ensure all work complies with current municipal, provincial, federal, and environmental standards.
About Your Background:
An excellent communicator, you have effective organization, prioritization and time management skills and can handle multiple tasks while meeting deadlines under a demanding workload. Requirements include completion of a two (2)-year post-secondary diploma in Engineering Technology (Electrical, Mechanical or Civil). Ideally, you have some experience the Civil Engineering field, however, this may be a good opportunity for a new graduate to gain experience in the municipal Civil Engineering field. Previous municipal experience is considered an asset. Along with your mechanical aptitude, you are knowledgeable about survey requirements for design and construction activities, utility infrastructure design, elementary engineering as well as surveying practices and procedures. Advanced computer aided drafting and design skills are essential for this position. A valid, full privilege Class 5 BC driver’s license (or out of province equivalent) is required. These term positions are expected to last up to 18 months.
